We Only Use Reclaimed Wood
What is Reclaimed Wood?
Reclaimed wood is typically wood salvaged from old buildings, homes and barns. While there are many variations and interpretations of the term, we have a detailed list of what we look for when purchasing our reclaimed wood. We are committed to using only reclaimed wood in our creations.
Our Selection Process
First we look for the age of the wood. We look for wood that has a history with a story to tell. Wood salvaged from the vintage days where wood foundations were made stronger and built to last. All the wood we look to repurpose is at least 100 years old. The wood of choice for most of our creations is long leaf pine, which is a tight grained wood that is no longer available for purchase in stores. We can verify the age of the pine by looking for markings, such as cut marks from old saw mills; tacks and holes used to hold together structures; or even wallpaper. These distinctive characteristics are what truly make it one of a kind.
The second standard we look for is quality. It’s important that the wood has been preserved well over time. Over time, wood can encounter many things that cause it to become brittle and rotten. The suppliers we work with are careful to sort through each and every board to ensure top quality.
Lastly, we look to find wood from reputable sources. It is fundamentally important to us that our suppliers are finding top quality products, while also ensuring they leave their work environment better than it was before they started. We will not do business with reclaimers who leave behind wreckage and trash after demolition.
We Buy Local
We chose to purchase most of our products from companies that salvage homes here in central Texas. We only work with local partners that make use of every piece of material that is salvageable, and leave the work site clean and ready to rebuild as soon as needed. Our trusted supplier is White Morpha Antiques and Salvage, located in Paige Texas. This family owned company does business with character and integrity. The unique team includes Jesse, the owner, along with Chris and Clint. Their Goal is to restore history by bringing found historic items back to life.
